Tres Sonetos de Petrarca
Song Cycle by Franz (Ferenc) Liszt (1811 - 1886)

Note: Liszt's second version is erroneously listed as Sonnet 104.
Liszt and Rheinberger used modernized spellings (e.g., "ò" in the first line becomes "ho" ; "et" becomes "e") above. Above is the text from Liszt's first version, Leipzig: Breitkopf & Härtel, 1917, with changes described below for his second version. 1 in Liszt's 2nd version (checked with the score published in 1922 by Breitkopf & Härtel, Leipzig), this is "tutto il"2 in Liszt's 2nd version, this is "chiegio"
3 in Liszt's 2nd version, this is "piangendo io rido"
4 in the repetition of this line in Liszt's first version, he names the lady: "In questo stato son per Voi, O Laura, per Voi."
Below is the text with its original spelling.

E vidi lagrimar que' duo bei lumi, Ch'han fatto mille volte invidia al sole; Ed udì' sospirando dir parole Che farian gir i monti, e stare i fiumi.
