Unter deinem dichten Dache nimm uns auf, du dunkler Hain, und mit schattigem Gemache schließe uns beschützend ein. Lass uns hier geborgen weilen und genießen stiller Ruh', sicher vor der Sonne Pfeilen, die sie schickt der Erde zu. Kommt, ihr Nymphen, und erschließet uns der Erde Tiefen schnell, und erfrischend springt und fließet, Quellen klar und silberhell! Lindert kühlend die Beschwerde bei des Tages heißer Glut, bis der Sonnengott die Pferde lenket in des Meeres Flut.
Note for stanza 4, line 4, word 1 provided by Johann Winkler: the score has "lenkt" on two connected notes, but the original poem certainly had "lenket", complying with the verse scheme.
