Laughing cavalier
Language: English
You’re a very dashing blade, Cavalier, In your suit of rich brocade, Cavalier, Well you lov’d a merry jest, You could frolic with the best; Slash and fight and all the rest, Cavalier! When you passed the flowing bowl, Cavalier, What a jovial song you’d troll, Cavalier, How the ladies bold or shy Fell before your roguish eye When they saw you riding by, Cavalier! That was very long ago, Cavalier, When you laughed and rollicked so, Cavalier, Ruffs and plumes are out of date, We’ve grown rather sad of late, Times are hard, and so is fate, Cavalier! Yet I think I hear you say, Cavalier, In your careless laughing way, Cavalier, Life is short so play the game, Never heed the praise or blame, Go on laughing just the same, Cavalier!
