Tom lehnt harrend auf der Brücke, Die Geliebte säumt, Schmollend taucht er seine Blicke In den Bach und träumt. Doch die lauscht schon im Gebüsche Und ihr Abbild ruht, Als der lieblichste der Fische, Im Krystall der Fluth. Mit dem Schmelze seiner Ränder Rahmt der Bach den Schein: Faßte Tom nicht das Geländer, Zög es ihn hinein.
