Der Himmel hat erschlossen den lichten Sternensaal, hat Schlummer ausgegossen und Frieden allzumal. Und wenn die Fluten küssen der lieben Sterne Pracht, muss ich die Süße grüßen wohl in der stillen Nacht. Dem Tag darf ich's nicht sagen, was Lieb' und Sehnsucht will, der Nacht nur darf ich's klagen. sie ist ja treu und still. Du fühlst wohl nichts von Kummer, von Lieb' und Sehnsuchtsdrang, du liegst in süßem Schlummer und hörst nicht meinen Sang.
