Im Meer, im herrlich deutschen Meer klagt Wind und Woge laut und schwer, und jede Welle trägt es fort von dem verlor'nen Kind das Wort: Rot ist die Kangt, weiß ist der Sand, das ist das deutsche Helgoland! Germania, du Mutter mein, du sammelst deine Glieder ein! Vergiss auch nicht dein letztes Kind, umrauscht von Wogendrang und Wind. Rot ist die Kangt, weiß ist der Sand, das ist das deutsche Helgoland! Bist du auch arm, bist du auch klein, denk' ich als gute Mutter dein, bis ich dich sicher weiß daraus, verlor'nes Kind im Vaterhaus.
