Sie steht am Zellenfenster, Denkt unablässig sein, Der ihr das Wort gebrochen, Und blickt ins Land hinein, Zwei Schäflein weiden im grünen Klee, Der Lenz tut wohl, der Lenz tut weh. Ein Duften und ein Flöten Dringt aus dem Gartenraum, Und über Eisengittern Rauscht drein der Lindenbaum Zwei Vögeln sitzen in Wipfeln grün Miteinander die rosigen Wolken zieh'n. Tief aus der Waldnacht drüben Lispelt und lockt es gar; Voll Wehmut lauscht die Nonne, Sie träumt so wunderbar, Da wirft ihr, mitleidsvoll allein, Der Wind eine Blüt' ins Kammerlein.
