I would I were a favorite flower
Language: English
I would I were a fav'rite flow'r, recluse amid some beauteous bow'r, where thou didst walk at lovely eve, to gain from care a sweet reprieve. I'd circle round thy flowing hair, a brilliant halo rich and fair. and waft on zephyr's wings to thee love's breathings, full of fragrancy. I would I were some unseen thing, in extasy I'd constant cling around thy form, as does the vine its tendrels round the tree entwine; and on those soft expressive eyes, bright as the hues of paradise, I'd gaze entranc'd, till death destroy'd the high-wrought pleasures I enjoy'd.
