Ich stand an eines Friedhofs Mauer und sah darinnen Grab um Grab. „Wie viel,“ so dachte ich mit Trauer, „sank hier an Hoffnung wohl hinab!“ Da hub ein Vöglein an zu singen, so sanft - ich horchte staunend zu; mir war's, als hört' ich's leise klingen: „Wie viele Qual kam hier zur Ruh'!“
