Es giebt ein Ding, das ich nicht kann fassen: Warum das Grosse nur gelten lassen? Warum dem Grossen all' Ehre weih'n? Warum nicht schätzen gross, und auch klein? Das wär' wohl leicht für gar manchen Laffen: das Ziel erreichen, und doch nicht schaffen, den Preis empfah'n, weil man fordert ihn und als den Besten sich stellet hin! Doch gilt für Viele die alte Lehre, dass schwerste Arbeit giebt höchste Ehre, und Viele Dem geben höchsten Preis, der wenig fordert, doch strebt mit Fleiss.
