Du bist so schön! dein weißer Nacken glänzet,

Rendezvous
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Do not move your lips nor your eyebrows,
Stay completely still and gaze about you in serenity,
So that no one notices my whispering and my murmuring,
For what you’re hearing is for you alone.
I love you and I do not want to part from you,
I am the shadow that attaches itself to you,
With every fiber [of my being] I wish to embrace you
Such that my soul penetrates into yours.
You are so beautiful! your white neck glows,
Do not be startled when my lips now touch it!
Garlanded by the flood of your soft curls,
Your cheeks glow and the flames of longing are fanned.
The moon is dark now, come into the garden,
Come into the arbour’s shadowy bower,
I’ll go on ahead, do not make me wait long!
Your bosom rises and falls, -- I know that you shall follow me.
