Beim Siegesmahl
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Mein Schwert und meine Lanze,
Was zittert ihr so heftig
Und funkelt mir vor den Augen
Bei'm frohen Siegesmahle?
Ist's Durst zu neuem Streite? --
Ich kann den Durst euch löschen! --
Da draußen vor dem Zelte
Was stampfen deine Hufe
Voll Ungeduld, mein Rappe?
Behagt dir nicht die Ruhe?
Willst du hinaus in's Weite? --
Ich kann den Wunsch dir stillen! --
Mein Schwert und meine Lanze
Und du, mein treuer Rappe,
Ich weiß, was ihr begehret;
Ihr wollt hinaus mich locken
Zum Zelt des schönen Weibes. --
Auf denn, sie zu gewinnen! --

At the victory feast
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
My sword and my lance,
Why do you shiver so mightily
And sparkle before my eyes
At the joyful victory feast?
Is it a thirsting for a new battle? --
I can still your thirst! --
Outside there before the tent,
Why do your hooves stamp
Full of impatience, my black horse?
Does rest not suit you?
Do you wish to go out into the wide world? --
I can fulfill your wish! --
My sword and my lance
And you, my faithful black horse,
I know what you desire;
You wish to entice me out
To the tent of the beautiful woman. --
Arise then to go win her! --
