Das Meer ist unendlich und meine Träume sind wild.
Das Meer besingt die Sonne indem es an die Steilküste schlägt
Und meine flüchtigen Träume könnten sich nicht wohler fühlen,
wie sie so übers Meer tanzen wie trunkene Vögel.
Die ausladende Bewegung der Wellen trägt sie empor,
der Wind treibt sie vorwärts und rollt sie in seine Falten.
Im Kielwasser spielend bilden sie eine Eskorte
für die Schiffe, denen mein Herz auf ihrer Flucht gefolgt ist.
Trunken von Luft und Salz und verbrannt vom Schaum des Meeres,
das tröstet und die Tränen abwäscht,
werden sie die Weite und ihre heilende Bitternis erkennen;
die verlorenen Möven werden sie für ihresgleichen halten.
