Des gouttelettes de rosée scintillent Une source murmure dans la prairie, Cachée dans la bruyère, Quelque part sonne un cloche de vache. De beaux champs Forment un paysage joyeux, Tout autour des fleurs dispensent leurs parfums, Les buissons fleurissent. Mon petit troupeau erre et pâture, Je suis assis sur un rocher, Un chant agréable, doux, Que je chante pour moi. Une retraite paisible, calme ! Portant un regret trouble dans mon esprit, Quelque chose me fait mal au cœur, Dans mon œil des larmes se forment. Les larmes coulent de mon œil, En moi chante un ruisseau, À moi d'en haut Une alouette répond. Elle étend ses ailes, À peine visible à l'œil, Plus haut, plus haut, Perdue déjà parmi les nuages. Au-dessus du champ, de la prairie, Elle est toujours en train de chanter Et le chant agréable de la terre Monte jusqu'au ciel !
