Vater unser
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Unser Vater,
der du bist im Himmel und auf Erden,
es soll dein heil’ger Name stets
gelobt, gepriesen werden.
Einst werde uns dein selig Reich
zuteil nach bittrem Leiden.
O süßer, reiner Herzenstrost,
wenn wir von hinnen scheiden!
Dein Wille, Herr, der deine nur
soll in der Welt geschehen
und ohne deinen Willen nicht
der kleinste Wurm vergehen.
O gib uns unser täglich Brot
und deinen heil’gen Segen.
Herr! Führe uns mit starker Hand
auf deinen Gnadenwegen.
Barmherz’ger, guter Vater du,
vergib uns unsre Sünden,
wie wir auch zum Vergeben stets
bereit uns lassen finden.
Halt die Versuchung von uns fern
mit deinem heil’gen Namen;
erlöse uns, allmächt’ger Gott,
von allem Übel. Amen!

Our Father
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Our Father,
which art in heaven as on earth,
thy hallowed name, for ever more,
we laud and we adore.
Thy kingdom come, one day it shall
conclude our earthly strife,
the consolation, sweet and pure,
when we depart from life.
In heaven as in earth, o Lord,
alone thy will be done,
against your will the smallest worm
shall never come to harm.
Give us this day our daily bread,
we ask, and give you praise,
Lord, lead us with your mighty hand
towards your paths of grace.
Forgive us all our sins, o Lord,
uplift us when we fall,
as we forgive those trespassers
who sinned against us all.
Ward all temptation off from us,
then sins no longer tempt;
deliver us from evil, Lord,
Amen. World without end.
