ma gl'andati piacer Vecchio condanni

Così col tempo andiam di voglie in voglie
Gioco Vezzi Delitie Amori e studi
son finti scherzi e mascherate doglie
e la sorte chiamando e i cieli crudi
caduchi più de le caduche foglie
nudi venghiamo e ce n'andiamo ignudi.

Nos émotions sont vagues, inconstantes, légères,
et nos désirs changent comme les années changent.
Ce qui enfant t'as tant tourmenté,
ne te plaît plus en tant que garçon hautain.
À celle qui maintenant m'enflamme si doucement le cœur,
l'âge plus mûr découvre la duplicité,
mais le vieillard condamne les plaisirs disparus
que comme tu le vois il est astreint à quitter.
Ainsi de désir en désir nous allons avec le temps,
jeu, grâces, délices, amours et études
sont des plaisanteries feintes et des travaux masqués,
et le sort et le ciel cruel nous appellent,
plus caducs que des feuilles caduques
nous venons nus et nous partons nus.
