Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott,
Ein gute Wehr und Waffen;
Er hilft uns frei aus aller Not,
Die uns jetzt hat betroffen.
Der alt' böse Feind,
Mit Ernst er's jetzt meint,
Groß Macht und viel List
Sein grausam Rüstung ist,
Auf Erd ist nicht seins Gleichen.
Mit unsrer Macht ist nichts getan,
Wir sind gar bald verloren;
Es streit' für uns der rechte Mann,
Den Gott hat selbst erkoren.
Fragst du, wer er ist?
Er heißt Jesus Christ,
Der Herr Zebaoth,
Und ist kein andrer Gott,
Das Feld muss er behalten.
Und wenn die Welt voll Teufel wär
Und wollt' uns gar verschlingen,
So fürchten wir uns nicht so sehr,
Es soll uns doch gelingen.
Der Fürst dieser Welt,
Wie saur er sich stellt,
Tut er uns doch nicht,
Das macht, er ist gericht',
Ein Wörtlein kann ihn fällen.
Das Wort sie sollen lassen stahn
Und kein'n Dank dazu haben;
Er ist bei uns wohl auf dem Plan
Mit seinem Geist und Gaben.
Nehmen sie dein Leib,
Gut, Ehr, Kind und Weib:
Lass fahren dahin,
Sie habens kein' Gewinn,
Das Reich muss uns doch bleiben.

Une forteresse sûre est notre Dieu
Des bons rempart et arme ;
Il nous aide volontiers dans toutes les détresses
Que nous avons rencontrées.
Le vieil ennemi démoniaque,
En est sérieusement persuadé,
Grande force et beaucoup de ruse
Sont ses armements horribles,
Il n'y a rien comme lui sur terre.
Rien ne peut être fait par notre force,
Nous sommes déjà perdus.
L'homme juste se bat pour nous,
Celui que Dieu a choisi lui-même.
Tu demandes, qui est-il ?
Il s'appelle Jésus-Christ,
Le Seigneur de Sabaoth
Et il n'y a pas d'autre Dieu.
Il doit contrôler le champ de bataille.
Et si le monde était rempli par le démon
Et nous dévorait,
Même alors nous ne serions pas si craintif
Nous devrions même réussir.
Le prince de ce monde,
Aussi dur qu'il puisse être
Ne peut rien contre nous,
Puisqu'il est déjà jugé,
Un simple mot peut le renverser.
Ils mettront de côté sa parole
En ne donneront aucun remerciement pour elle.
Il est avec nous en effet dans le projet
Avec son esprit et ses dons.
S'ils nous prennent nos corps,
Nos biens, honneur, enfant, femme,
Laisse-les les prendre,
Ils n'ont pas de butin ;
Nos richesses reste encore avec nous.
