Silenciosament comença a caure la rosada al boscatge, tranquil•lament la grisor del crepuscle s’enllaça amb la vermellor i les aigües calmes, a través del verd de les prades envoltades de matolls, així ho contemplen els esguards embriagats. Mira! El plomatge dels corbs, negre com la nit, remoreja sota roures llunyans. Una flaire balsàmica alena a l’aire; els cants màgics de Filomela, tendrament els fa ressonar l’eco. Escolta! El toc de les campanes al vespre, severes, recorden als fills de la terra, que llur cor adreçant-se al cel, hauria de reflectir la bellesa del país i desavesar-se de les foteses del món. Travessant la barrera de núvols alts, centellegen milers de senyals celestials, la imatge de la lluna es difon plàcidament en el nítid mirall de les aigües, amb àuria resplendor, damunt camps i tossals. Amb el reflex de la lluna plena brilla, coberta de molsa, la petita teulada de l’església. Però ai! Tot al voltant, fredes làpides cobreixen les restes dels difunts. Reposeu, oh estimats, dels vostres sofriments fins a la gran resurrecció de la nit, el poder de Déu, un dia ens cridarà per entrar a les altures del goig etern.
