Am Garten schritt ein Bursch vorbei

A youth pass'd by the garden‑gate
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
A youth pass'd by the garden-gate with auburn locks encircling, his noble brow and with eyes so bright; the morning bells were ringing. My throbbing heart beats loud and fast, and troubled thoughts come o'er me! The dew still lingers on the grass, the youth is gone by; farewell, love!
From the Fielitz score. Note on stanza 1, line 3: "his noble brow" should probably be "with noble brow"
