Language: English  after the Czech (Čeština)
'Neath the rosetree in the meadow, that the morn discloses, Hanna grew in silent beauty, blooming like the roses, sweeter than the summer breezes or the scented flowers;New the bagpipes play a measure, while the dancers have their pleasure. To the gipsy, fancy's creature, dancing is a second nature! Ha! how proudly through the dances Janesch at his sweetheart glances! With a look like lightning flashing, sword is glancing, spurs are clashing; maiden's eyes his eyes are meeting, while her heart is loudly beating. Then a whispered word of longing, hope and joy her bosom thronging with such happiness before them, heav'n itself is opening o'er them. how I love to sit and watch her in the evening hours! Hanna, sweetest Hanna! Were I gloomy, heavyladen, sank my heart in sorrow, Hanna brightened all my sadness, smiles from her I'd borrow, and if on my weary brow an anxious cloud still lowered, Hanna swept it right away and kisses on me showered. Kiss me, sweetest Hanna!
