Za našíma humny,
ej zahučała sova,
došły mně na mysel
ej méj mamičky słova.
Méj mamičky słova,
ej miłého tichá řeč,
nebanovała bych
ej s miłým vandrovat preč.
Vandruj, šohaj, vandruj
ej třeba na kraj světa,
enom sa rozpomeň,
ej že su já sirota.
Kde sirota płače,
ej všady voda teče,
kde słuza upadne,
ej tam důłek ostane.

The Orphan
Language: English  after the Moravian (Moravština)
Behind our barn, our barn,
hey! an owl’s hooting was heard;
and then there came to mind
hey! the words my mother said.
The words my mother said,
hey! soft talk from my lover;
but I would not regret
hey! leaving with my lover.
Wander, lover, wander,
to the world’s end if you will,
just always remember
hey, that I’m an orphan girl,
Where orphans are weeping,
hey! rivers flow everywhere,
as their tears are falling,
hey! a lake will be formed there.
