Bolavá hlava
Language: Moravian (Moravština)
Available translation(s): ENG
Na trávníčku na zeleném
u studénky u kamenej
stojí tam kůň ryzovraný
na něm šohaj porúbaný.
Došla k němu jeho máti,
počala ho naříkati:
Můj synáčku přemilený,
pověz ty mně, co ťa bolí.
Hłavička mňa tuze bolí,
tá sa jakživ nezahojí.
Má mamičko přemilená,
to mi vojna porobiła.

An Aching Head
Language: English  after the Moravian (Moravština)
On the soft green grass, soft green grass
by the fresh spring flows from the rock,
there stands a horse, raven black steed,
his rider is sorely wounded.
His mother came near, found him there,
began plaintively to enquire:
My beloved one, my dear lad,
tell me please, what ails you so bad.
My head hurts me, it hurts so bad,
and it will never ever mend.
O beloved mother of mine,
for me, that’s what the war has done.
