In dem Thale blühn die Bäume,
Auf die Höhen fällt der Schnee;
Soll es stören deine Träume,
Wandeln deine Lust in Weh?
Anders kann's am Abend kommen:
Auf den Höhn die Sonne lacht,
Doch im Thal ist sie verglommen,
Und bricht an die düstre Nacht.
Nimm die Freude, wo sie winket,
Heute hier und morgen dort!
Thöricht, wenn der Mut entsinket,
Such sie nur am rechten Ort!
