Das grosse Dorf, auf teutsch, die Welt.
Die so viel Menschen unterhält,
Ist überhaupt mein Vater-Land
Das niemals völlig abgebrandt,
Und dieser weite Ort, ist meiner Reise Ziel.
Mein Glücke trag' ich in der Tasche,
Und kann hinlaufen, wo ich will,
Wo mir das Brodt am besten schmeckt,
Und wo mein Pfenning Junge heckt,
Da ruhet mein vertriebner Sinn,
Wie, wenn ich sonst zu Hause bin,
Es sei gleich, wo es sei, so gilt es mir gleich viel.
Mein Glücke trag' ich in der Tasche,
Und kann hinlaufen, wo ich will,
O! räum' ich jetzt gleich diese Stadt,
G'nug, daß es andre Örter hat,
Wo ein von hier verbannter Mann,
Sein Pferde zur Krippe führen kann.
In jedem Holze wächst vor meine Art ein Stiel.

Und kann hinlaufen, wo ich will,
Ihr Schuldner, seht, wenn ich einmal
Einst der Natur die Schuld bezahl,
So zahl ich euch auch eure Schuld,
