Never say "die!"
Language: English  after the Moravian (Moravština)
Hark, the cuckoo in the woods his mate now is calling. Fast a maiden's burning tears for false love are falling. And I ask'd her: “Why dost weep, love? Why so long hast sighed? When the cuckoo calls, next Yuletide, thou shalt be my bride!" I must weep and sorrow, for I'll ne'er be thy bride, love, As the cuckoo ne'er will call his mate at Yuletide, love. God is mighty: by His Will must all on earth abide: At His Word shall e'en the cuckoo call at Christmastide!
From the Simrock edition of Dvořák's op. 38.
