Ad Augsburg c'è un'alta casa, vicino al vecchio duomo, di là uscì, un chiara mattina, una fanciulla, tutta devota; si sentiva un canto, e verso il duomo andava la cara figura. Là, davanti all'immagine di Maria? si inginocchiò pregando, il cielo riempiva il suo cuore, ogni gioia terrena era svanita: "O Vergine purissima! Fa' che io sia soltanto tua!" Appena il suono cupo delle campane riscosse gli oranti, la fanciulla attraversò la navata, senza sapere che cosa portava: sul suo capo, lucente di splendore divino, una ghirlanda di gigli. Con stupore guardava tutta la gente la ghirlandetta chiara alla sua chioma, ma la fanciulla non andò lontano, si fermò presso all'altare maggiore: "Io monachella andrò, me poverella! Estinguiti, amore e gioia!" Dio, concedi che questa fanciulla porti in pace la sua ghirlanda. Era la mia diletta, lo rimarrà per sempre. Lei non lo sa, il mio cuore si è spezzato. Estringuiti, amore e luce!
