Herzlieblich Lieb, durch Scheiden
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG FRE
Damit es mir entfremdet ist;

Lovely love, due to parting
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Lovely love, due to parting my heart has turned.
If it were against a heathen, it still would be too hard.
So my heart is estranged to me;
It never quite was mine,
and remained constantly yours.
Yes, doesn't that bring me pain? So now I understand woe.
I part without solace from the heart, and indeed must leave what I love,
what I don't want to give for joy,
delight, or distress. I am without aim, I am doomed.
