De molen draait zijn wieken, de storm, die suist er in, en onder de linde bij de heuvel, daar weent de molenarin. Laat suizen de wind en bruisen, ik heb gebouwd op de wind, ik heb gebouwd op beloften wat was ik een dwaas kind. Nog heeft de wind me niet belogen, de wind, die bleef me trouw, nu ben ik verarmd en bedrogen die beloften waren enkel kaf. Waar is hij met zijn beloften? de wind hoort weeklachten slechts aan. Al dwalend is hij verdwenen de wind vindt hem niet weerom.
