Kämpfend für den heil'gen Herd der Götter Fall ich, und des Vaterlandes Retter Steig' ich nieder zu dem styg'schen Fluß. Naar het slagveld zal 'k een weg mij banen, Met mijn arm beschermen Pergamon. Strijdend voor de heil'ge haard der goden Val ik; als voor 't vaderland gedode Held1 daal ik af naar de Styxse stroom. Andromache: Nimmer hoor ik ooit je wapens klinken, In de hal zag 'k stof op 't ijzer zinken, Priamus'2 grote heldenstam valt uit.
