Über die Hütte weht der Wind
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Über die Hütte weht der Wind,
wo Joseph und Maria sind.
In den Ritzen Heu und Stroh,
und die Beiden so wunderfroh.
In dem allerärmsten Haus
geht ein Glanz [von dem]1 Kinde aus,
das in dieser seligen Nacht
in der Krippe liegt und lacht.
Engel kommen und wiegen es ein:
das ist das süsse Jesulein.

Christmas
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The wind blows over the stable
where Joseph and Mary are.
In the cracks are hay and straw,
and both of them are so amazingly happy.
In this most poor of houses
light beams out from the child
who, on this blessed night,
is lying and laughing in the crib.
Angels come and rock him:
it is sweet little Jesus.
