Mein Liebster pfeift so schön,
dass mein teurer Vater immer glaubt,
es sei die Amsel, die sich singend erfreut
an der Rückkehr der schönen Jahreszeit.
Das ist im Frühjahr sehr praktisch,
dass er den Kuckuck nachahmt,
so kann ich meinen Liebsten treffen
während Papa denkt, ich nähte.
Im Herbst imitiert mein geschickter Schatz
den Raben, um meinen Vater irrezuführen.
Meinen nichts ahnenden Vater,
der uns so nicht überraschen kann.
Aber ach im Winter! Da gibt's keine Vögel.
Das ist schlimm für unsere Rendezvous.
Dann muss mein Liebster sich eben
in meinen Ehemann verwandeln.
Also merkt Euch, ihr Mädchen
nehmt nur einen zum Liebsten,
einen mit Stil, der Euch hofiert,
ohne Euch je ins Gerede zu bringen.
