Les flors obren els ulls, l’herba silenciosa esguarda cap amunt, alenen els vents del matí, el sol avança. El crit de joia de l’alosa ja sura per l’aire blau, des de l’espessor d’espigues rosses, s’enlaira una flaire aromàtica de flors. Entre arbres verds la casa del moliner, com si fos la seu de la pau, mira cap baix a la vall. Les ones impetuoses del rierol del bosc fan moure de pressa la roda que, com el desig d’amor, no té mai repòs. Al petit jardí del costat, el goig de l’estiu s’orna amb flors fresques els rínxols, els cabells i el pit. Una enfiladissa d’heura verda ha cobert com un teixit de fulles verdes la paret del jardí. A la caseta del jardí, on a la vermellor del capvespre, les mareselves flairen entre l’herba donzella, seia de grat al matí la filla del moliner, i al rocam esguardava des de dalt vers la vall, car allà, a la llunyania, on creixen els pollancres i grans aspes de molins de vent giravolten enfeinades, vivia l’únic, al que ella s’havia promès, allà vivia el seu estimat, el bondadós Guiu. Ai, la caseta deserta i l’amor a la tomba, i el profundament afligit lluny amb un bastó de caminant! Passant per les roques el salvatge rierol mormola, preguntant-se, on roman la que aquí collia flors? Aquelles floretes blaves que l’amor cull, volen suplicar a l’amant: “Cor, no m’oblidis.”
