Se hundió en las olas Y las olas empujaron a la joven Siete largos siglos juntos, Así nadó, la Madre-Agua De noroeste a suroeste y en todas direcciones. Se elevó una furiosa tempestad y el mar echaba rabiosa espuma "¡O, qué desdichada mi fortuna! Mejor seguir virgen en el cielo. Ukko, el más alto de los Dioses Acude veloz a mi plegaria." De pronto apareció una preciosa ave Que en todas direcciones voló, De noroeste a suroeste, Mas no halló el lugar que buscó. Ei, ei, ei. "Si hago mi nido en el aire, O descansando sobre las olas, El viento lo derribará, O las olas lo alejarán." Entonces la Madre de las Aguas Sacó de las olas los hombros, Y allí hizo su nido, Y el ave empolló sus huevos. Al sentir la doncella que se calentaban, sus miembros se convulsionaban e hizo caer el nido al agua donde se rompieron en pequeños fragmentos. Un huevo se convirtió en algo hermoso De la cáscara rota brotó un alto arco hacia el cielo. De la clara, la parte de arriba, Se elevó la luna que tanto brilla, Y aquello jaspeado Se convirtió en las estrellas del cielo.
