Wir führen ein geduldig's, Unschuldig's, geduldig's, Ein liebliches Lämmlein zu Tod! Sankt Lucas den Ochsen tät schlachten Ohn' einig's Bedenken und Achten, Der Wein kost' kein Heller Im himmlischen Keller, Die Englein, die backen das Brot. Nous jouissons des joies célestes, Aussi nous pouvons fuir les choses terrestres. Aucun tumulte de ce monde N'est entendu au ciel ! Tout vit dans la paix la plus douce. Nous menons la vie des anges, Pourtant nous en sommes tout à fait heureux ; Nous dansons et nous nous bondissons, Nous sautillons et nous chantons, Saint Pierre dans le ciel nous regarde. Jean laisse sortir le petit agneau, Hérode le boucher le surveille. Nous menons un doux, Innocent, doux, Petit agneau à la mort. Saint Luc abat le bœuf Sans hésitation, sans y prêter attention. Le vin ne coûte pas un sou Dans les caves célestes ; Les Anges, ils font cuire le pain. De bonnes plantes de toutes sortes Poussent dans le jardin céleste ; De bonnes asperges, de bons haricots verts Et tout ce que nous voulons. Tous les plats sont prêts pour nous ! De bonnes pommes, de bonnes poires et des bons raisins ; Les jardiniers, ils permettent tout. Veux-tu du chevreuil, veux-tu un lièvre ? Dans la rue ouverte Ils arrivent en courant !
