O sieht dich die Sonne so freundlich an,
Was sollen dir Schmerz und Reue?
Wirf ab deine Last, du trauriger Mann,
Und freu' dich an Sonne und Bläue.
"Mich freut keine Sonne, mich freut kein Blau
Und hab' doch den Frühling so gerne.
Ach, die ich allein nur am liebsten erschau,
Die weilt schon lang in der Ferne."

Que veux-tu dire aujourd'hui avec ces craintes ?
Tu traverses si silencieusement printemps et bosquet,
Comme si tu étais frappé de cécité.
"Je ne suis pas aveugle et pourtant je ne vois pas,
Il ne fait pas sombre, mais il ne fait pas jour,
Je pourrais rire et je mourrais pleurer.
Mais je ne pourrais en parler à personne."
Oh le soleil te sourit si doucement,
Que te veulent souffrance et regret ?
Pose ton fardeau, homme triste,
Et réjouis-toi du soleil et du ciel bleu.
"Je n'ai de plaisir ni du soleil, ni du ciel bleu
Et pourtant j'aime tant le printemps.
