Jeg havde begravet min elskov histude ved vestens hav. Og tidlig og silde så sad jeg hos min skatt og våged og vugged. Og så voksed der en nat en lilje frem fra hendes grav. Og der falder nat over vesten hav, og det blir så stilt under himlens telt. Da synger min sjæl, og da nynner mit blod, da synker jeg bedøvet i andagt for din fod og kysser dig, liljehvide jomfru!
