Spring's sweet buds now have burst into blossom; Lo! ev'ry flow'r, and creature rejoices; Languishing, joyful, glad lover's songs are Heard as they mingle with Spring's sweet voices. Spring's sweet children my heart are storming, Whispering fond tales of love's first adventure; Shouting aloud with wild rejoicing; Knocking at doors they ne'er can enter. Springs [sic] sweet children, with soft entreating, Seek ye the cause of my heart's loud beating? Have I betrayed to you while I slumber'd, Dreaming 'neath your blooms unnumber'd; Did the southwind, to tell you, not tarry, That in my heart's deep hidden chamber, Where your loveliest playmate reigneth, Secreted so fondly, love's image I carry?
