Flow, my tears
Language: English
Available translation(s): CAT CHI SPA
Flow, my tears, fall from your springs!
Exiled for ever, let me mourn;
Where night's black bird her sad infamy sings,
There let me live forlorn.
Down vain lights, shine you no more!
No nights are dark enough for those
That in despair their lost fortunes deplore.
Light doth but shame disclose.
Never may my woes be relieved,
Since pity is fled;
And tears and sighs and groans my weary days
Of all joys have deprived.
From the highest spire of contentment
My fortune is thrown;
And fear and grief and pain for my deserts
Are my hopes, since hope is gone.
Hark! you shadows that in darkness dwell,
Learn to contemn light
Happy, happy they that in hell
Feel not the world's despite.
G. Jacob sets stanzas 1, 4-5

Fluid, lágrimas mías, caed de vuestros manantiales!
Language: Spanish (Español)  after the English
¡Fluid, lágrimas mías, caed de vuestros manantiales!
Exiliado por siempre dejadme penar.
Donde el nocturno pájaro negro su triste infamia canta;
Allí dejadme vivir desolado.
¡Disipaos, luces vanas, no más resplandor!
No hay noche suficientemente oscura
Para el que su perdido destino suspira;
La luz no hace más que revelar la desgracia.
Nunca sea aliviado mi tormento;
Pues la lástima es rechazada.
Y lágrimas, y suspiros, y gemidos;
A mis agobiantes días de todo gozo han privado.
Desde la más alta torre del regocijo
Mi fortuna es arrojada.
Y el miedo, y el dolor, y la pena espero por merecido;
Pues la esperanza se ha ido
¡Escuchad! Sombras que morad la oscuridad;
Aprended a desdeñar la luz.
¡Felices, felices aquellos que en el infierno
No sienten los martirios terrenales!
