The ambitious one
Language: English  after the Norwegian (Bokmål)
Here in the garden you whispered to me once that you loved me,
Now you avert your gaze in silence, you love me no more.
You aspired to the peaks of ambition, forgetting the peace of the valley.
You moved in golden circles, leaving me far behind!
But can these rewards make up for one heart's tender confidence!
You have it all now, my love, lacking only inner peace!
I will not blight the glittering expanses of your heaven,
I lost my happiness, but you have lost your soul!
