Adoro te devote, latens Deitas,
quae sub his figuris vere latitas:
tibi se cor meum totum subjicit,
quia te contemplans totum deficit.
Visus, tactus, gustus in te fallitur,
sed auditu solo tuto creditur;
credo quidquid dixit Dei Filius:
nil hoc verbo Veritatis verius.
In cruce latebat sola Deitas,
at hic latet simul et humanitas;
ambo tamen credens atque confitens,
peto quod petivit latro paenitens.
Plagas, sicut Thomas, non intueor;
Deum tamen meum te confiteor;
fac me tibi semper magis credere,
in te spem habere, te diligere.
O memoriale mortis Domini!
panis vivus, vitam praestans homini!
praesta meae menti de te vivere
et te illi semper dulce sapere.
Pie pellicane, Jesu Domine,
me immundum munda tuo sanguine;
cuius una stilla salvum facere
totum mundum quit ab omni scelere.
Jesu, quem velatum nunc aspicio,
oro fiat illud quod tam sitio;
ut te revelata cernens facie,
visu sim beatus tuae gloriae. Amen.

Die U werk’lijk schuil houdt in dit stoff’lijk slot.
Aan u geeft zich over heel mijn geest en hart,
Omdat Uw aanschouwing al mijn denken tart.
Zien en voelen, proeven schieten hier tekort,
Maar door enkel horen 't geloven veilig wordt;
Wat Gods Zoon gezegd heeft, daar geloof ik in:
Ja, zijn woord van Waarheid is mijn grootst gewin.
Op het kruis verborg zich slechts uw godd’lijkheid,
Hier ontgaat ons echter ook uw mens’lijkheid;
Beide toch erkennend – U bent mij genoeg - ,
Vraag ik wat de rover vol berouw U vroeg.
Zoals Thomas eerder, dacht ik mij bedot,
Toch wil ‘k nu belijden, ja, Gij zijt mijn God;
Doe mij u op U bouwen, altijd meer en meer,
Op U steeds vertrouwen, U beminnen zeer.
O herinn’ringsteken aan des Heren dood,
Mensen leven schenkend, o gij levend brood!
Laat mijn geest ervaren wat Gij voor ons zijt
En voortaan mij smaken steeds die heerlijkheid.
Pelikaan vol goedheid, Jezus onze Heer,
Laat uw bloed mij zuiv’ren; ik ben zondig zeer.
’t Bloed waarvan één druppel redding brengen kan,
Ieder mens verlossen uit zijn schuldenban.
Jezus, die verborgen ik nu hier aanschouw,
‘k Bid, laat dat geschieden wat ‘k zo wensen zou:
Dat ik, ongesluierd ziend uw aangezicht,
In de roes mag raken van uw glorielicht. Amen.
