Willkommen jetzt, o dunkler Hain,
wo der bejahrten Eiche Dach
den kühlenden Schirm gewährt,
und wo der schlanken Äspe Laub
mit leisem Gelispel rauscht.
Am weichen Moose rieselt da
in heller Flut der Bach,
und fröhlich summend irrt
und wirrt die bunte Sonnenbrut.
Der Kräuter reinen Balsamduft
verbreitet Zephyrs Hauch,
und aus dem nahen Busche
tönt des jungen Schäfers Rohr.

Benvenuto, boschetto ombroso
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Recitativo: Vanna
Benvenuto, boschetto ombroso,
dove la chioma della antica quercia
offre un fresco riparo,
dove il fogliame del pioppo slanciato
stormisce con un lieve sussurro.
Sul tenero muschio scorre,
in flutti lucenti, il ruscello,
e in lieto ronzio vaga confusamente
la variopinta stirpe degli insetti.
L'aroma balsamico delle erbe
è diffuso tutto intorno dal soffio di Zefiro,
e dal vicino cespuglio
risuona la zampogna del pastorello.
