A manhã de serração
Language: Portuguese (Português)
Available translation(s): ENG
Em tempos de homens gigantes,
Houve um Rei, O Desejado,
Que foi, em naus embarcado,
Buscando terras distantes...
Quantos corações amantes
Deixaram lar e noivado!
(Ide ouvir! O mar salgado
Inda os chora como dantes... )
Lá morreram, num deserto...
Mas voltarão! Longe ou perto,
Hão de tornar, afinal!
Voltarão... mas talvez quando,
Já dentre as névoas, voltando,
Não hão-de achar Portugal!

The foggy morning
Language: English  after the Portuguese (Português)
In the times of the giant men,
Lived a king, The Desired One,
Who was, in a boat on the sea,
Looking for distant lands...
How many loving hearts
Abandoned home and betrothed!
(Listen! The salty sea
Still cries for them like before..)
There they died, in a desert..
But they will return! Far or near,
They will return, finally!
They will return... but maybe when,
Returning, they emerge out of the mists,
They will not find Portugal!
