Der war gesponnen überall.
Der war gesponnen bis aus Blut,
Das Mädchen starb in wilder Wut.
Ach, pflanzt drei Rosen auf das Grab
Dann kömmt mein Buhle und pflückt sie ab.

al punto che volle in terra scavare.
Scavò di qua, di là scavò
lo trovò infine e lo dissotterrò.
L'amante era ricco e pieno d'oro
donò alla fanciulla molto denaro.
Le diede pure un busto assai stretto
che alla fanciulla serrò forte il petto.
Serrò così forte che lei sanguinò
furente di rabbia lei allora spirò.
Sulla mia tomba tre rose piantate
verrà a raccoglierle il mio antico amante.
