16 Quoniam in te, Domine, speravi; tu exaudies me, Domine Deus meus. 22 Ne derelinquas me, Domine Deus meus; ne discesseris a me. 23 Intende in adjutorium meum, Domine Deus salutis meæ.

[A psalm of David, for the commemoration of the Sabbath.] O Lord, do not accuse me in your wrath, do not seize me in your anger: For your arrows are fixed in me, and you have strengthened your hand over me. There is no health in my flesh, from the appearance of your anger; there is no peace for my bones, from the appearance of my sins: Since my wrongdoings have advanced over my head, and are oppressing me like a heavy weight. My wounds are rotten and corrupt from the appearance of my lack of wisdom. I have been made sad and crooked right to the end; I walk around terribly sad all day. For my loins are filled with illusions, and there is no health in my flesh. I am wounded and brought down very low; I have been roaring with the groans of my heart. O Lord, every desire of mine is before you, and my groans are not hidden from you. My heart is disturbed; my strength has left me, and the light of my eyes itself is not with me. My friends and my neighbours have approached me and stood against me: and those who were next to me have stood far off; and those who were seeking my life have used force. And those who investigated my ills have spoken empty nothings, even though they were plotting traps all day. I then will not listen, as if I were deaf; and not opening my mouth as if dumb. And I have been made like a man who cannot hear, and who does not have refutations in his mouth. Since I have hoped in you, o Lord; you will hear me, o Lord my God. Because I have said: may my enemies never rejoice over me; and while my feet are set in motion, they have said great things about me. For I have been prepared for whips, and my sadness is always in my sight. For I will announce my own wrongdoing, and I will think about my sin. My enemies are indeed alive, and they have been strengthened over me; and those who hate me unfairly have been multiplied. Those who return evil from good have been dragging me down, since I will follow goodness. Do not abandon me, o Lord my God; do not depart from me. Speed to my help, o Lord God of my salvation.
