Opeens trok 's konings liefje Zacht aan zijn mantelzoom: "Eens gaf je mij veel liefde; Nu lijkt dat haast een droom." "Wát liefde, lust en hartstocht? Houd op, vriendin die mij kwelt! De onweerslucht trekt dreigend Hierheen met dond'rend geweld. Ik ben op burchtkantelen Geen koning met zwaard en kroon: Ik ben van oproer'ge tijden D' onmachtige, vrezende zoon."
