L'Amour se posa, comme un rossignol, Dans un buisson de roses et chanta ; Le merveilleux chant si doux Envahit le bois verdoyant. Et à son chant se répandirent Des senteurs de milliers de fleurs, Et chaque cime d'arbre s'agita doucement Et plus léger était l'air. Les ruisseaux étaient silencieux eux qui Récemment dévalaient des hauteurs ; Les faons se tenaient comme dans un rêve Et écoutaient le chant. Et légers et encore plus légers Les rayons du soleil scintillaient, Et sur les fleurs, les arbres et le vallon L'éclat jaune d'or se répandait. Mais j'allais mon chemin et j'entendis aussi le chant. Hélas ! Depuis ce moment mes chants ne sont que son écho.
