Der hehre Engel, der die Pforte
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): CAT FRE ITA SPA
Recitativ Tenor-Solo
Der hehre Engel, der die Pforte
Des Lichts bewacht, vernimmt die Worte,
Und wie er lauscht und näher schleicht
Dem sanften Lied, entsinkt ihm eine Träne;
Er sprach:
Der Engel
Dir, Kind des Stamms, schön, doch voll Sünden
Kann eine frohe Hoffnung ich noch künden.
Im Schicksalsbuche stehn die Worte:
»Es sei der Schuld die Peri bar,
Die bringt zu dieser ew'gen Pforte
Des Himmels liebste Gabe dar!«
Geh, suche sie und werde rein:
Gern laß ich die Entsühnten ein!

El divino ángel que las puertas
Language: Spanish (Español)  after the German (Deutsch)
Tenor
El divino ángel que las puertas
de la luz guardaba escuchó sus palabras,
y acercándose para oír,
el dulce canto le arrancó una lágrima,
y dijo:
El ángel
A ti, hija de tu estirpe, bella, pero llena de pecado,
puedo anunciarte una alegre esperanza:
En el libro del destino está escrito:
“Liberada de culpa será la Peri,
si ofrece a estas puertas eternas
el don más precioso para el Cielo”.
Anda, búscalo, y serás pura,
¡gustoso dejo entrar a quien ha expiado!
