Doch konnte ihm mein Herz nicht traun, denn er glich der Undankbaren, der Vergessenheit ich schwur. Ich fand den Mund so feurig, so blühend sein Gesicht, und ein Ach! entfloh mir, er erwachte, er erwachte. Ach! Amor erwachte ungeweckt! Plötzlich regten sich seine Schwingen, den Rächerbogen spannte er, einen seiner Pfeile, seiner blutigen Pfeile faßte er, faßte er. Tief durchbohrt' er mein Herz, Fort, fort, fort, fort, rief er, fort, rief er, zu Sylviens Füßen Fühl aufs neue Herzensqualund Glut! Lieben sollst du sie nun, weil du lebest!
