Mein Liebster ist im Dorf der Schmied

My lover is the village smith
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
My lover is the village smith, oh! he is dear to me! My heart beats, when his hammer strikes, however far he be! When I behold him, care departs, I think of naught beside. My lover is the village smith, and I'm his own true bride. When I within my doorway sit, I hear him as he sings; how joyous is his manly voice, as on his hammer swings! He thinks of me, that's why his blows are full of strength and pride. My lover is the village smith, and I'm his own true bride. And when the sun is sinking low, he lays his hammer by and treads the old familiar path beneath the starlit sky. I know his step, I watch and wait till he is by my side. My lover is the village smith, and I'm his own true bride.
