Ó byl to krásný, zlatý sen

Ó byl to krásný, zlatý sen,
Jejž spolu jsme tam snili!
Ach škoda, že tak krátký jen
Byl sen ten přespanilý!
Tak sladká touha v bytosti
Se celé uhostila,
[Až]1 při loučení žalosti
Se slza dostavila.
A často chodím na horu
A za Tebou se dívám:
Však po dalekém obzoru
Jen žal svůj rozesívám.

O, that was a beautiful dream
Language: English  after the Czech (Čeština)
O, that was a beautiful dream,
that there you and I both dreamed!
Ah, it was so brief, such a shame,
a wonderful dream indeed!
I felt such a lovely yearning;
it gave my whole being joy,
but then the pain of sad parting
drew tears and I had to cry.
I often climb up the mountain,
hoping to see that you’re there,
but far as the distant horizon
I just sow seeds of despair.
